My Story
Hi, I’m Simon!
I’m a tutor, theology graduate, author and ordained minister, with a particular interest in PSHE, Creative Writing and Religious Education. I’m passionate about helping young people develop their knowledge, express their ideas and grow in confidence. My approach is person-centred, recognising each learner’s individual strengths, interests and potential.
I aim to make learning engaging, purposeful and accessible, creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring new ideas. Through discussion, creative activities and encouragement, I help learners take an active role in their education and develop confidence in their own abilities.
My 27 years in church ministry have given me extensive experience of working with young people and families. Across Essex, Cheshire, Merseyside and Lancashire, I’ve led youth groups, provided individual mentoring and pastoral support, and helped young people recognise their strengths and make positive contributions to their communities. These experiences have shaped my patient, thoughtful approach to tutoring.
Alongside my work in ministry, I’ve launched creative businesses in film, photography, online marketing and web design. Combined with my experience as an author, this gives me practical examples to draw on when encouraging creativity, communication and self-expression.
Building trusting relationships is central to my work. I bring empathy, nurturing support and a trauma-informed approach to my tutoring, helping young people feel safe, heard and valued. Above all, I want every learner to experience success, build independence and feel positive about what they can achieve.
