My Story
Hi. I’m Sandra

I’ve recently semi-retired from teaching English language and literature in mainstream education after 25 years. During my career I have taught the national curriculum to all of KS3 and also GCSE language and literature to KS4 students. A lot of my time has been spent intervening with underachieving students individually and in small groups and I believe this is where my strengths lie.

I like to think that I am calm and patient and that I am able to encourage those students who believe that they can’t pass English, or have no confidence in their ability. I have a lot of experience in supporting these students to achieve the grades 4/5 and above that they need for college and in addition, have developed many resources over the years to help them access the English curriculum.

I have also worked with many younger – KS3 students who struggle with literacy, and have delivered tailored reading intervention in small groups.

Before I qualified as a teacher in 2000 I worked with adults and young people with learning disabilities for 15 years, which I believe has also enhanced my ability to treat all children as individuals with unique needs and personalities.

Thank you for reading.

Sandra
