Sophie

Hello. 

I am Sophie, one of the team at Lytham Tutors. I am a qualified secondary school History teacher, with a 2:1 BA Hons degree from Leeds University and a PGCE from Liverpool Institute. I have been a teacher for just over thirty years. In that time, I have been a Head of Department and a Head of Year in mainstream schools. More recently, I have worked in Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) and in home-education.

My subject specialisms are the Humanities. I also teach Functional Skills in Maths & English from Entry Level to Level 2.  I can deliver GCSE Foundation Maths too.

I believe strongly that every child deserves access to good quality education and the space, physically and emotionally, to thrive. Every child is different, and I take time to plan accordingly - a curriculum that is accessible and achievable. I pride myself on building positive rapport with my students, using humour and positivity to break down barriers and build trust.

It's been thirty years, and I still just enjoy working with teenagers!
