My Story

Hi, I'm Theo!

I am passionate about language, communication and helping young people develop the skills they need to succeed across a range of subjects. I hold a degree in German Studies, a Master's degree in Translation (Distinction), and I am currently completing a PhD in Languages at the University of Central Lancashire.

My academic background has given me a deep understanding of language, literacy and communication, which I bring into my teaching of English, Mathematics and German. I enjoy helping students develop confidence in reading, writing and problem-solving, breaking down challenging concepts into manageable steps and adapting my approach to suit each learner's needs.

Alongside my studies, I have gained experience supporting pupils in both classroom and one-to-one settings. This includes volunteering in secondary school German lessons, leading individual and small-group speaking sessions, and providing private tuition. I have also worked as an English Language Assistant in Germany and spent a year studying at the University of Heidelberg, giving me valuable first-hand experience of language learning and international education.

As an exam invigilator, I also have a strong understanding of examination requirements and the skills students need to perform confidently under pressure.

I believe that learning should be engaging, supportive and enjoyable. Whether a student needs help building confidence in English or Maths, improving their German, or preparing for examinations, I aim to create lessons that are motivating, personalised and focused on helping every learner achieve their potential.
